So far, it is difficult to count the output of vermicular cast iron in the world, because vermicular cast iron is often counted within the output of gray cast iron, rather than from a separate project. The annual output of vermicular graphite cast iron in China is uncertain.

China is in a leading position in the research on the formation mechanism of vermicular graphite cast iron. In addition, extensive and in-depth research has been carried out on the treatment process of vermicular graphite cast iron, molten iron melting and quality control before furnace, and the properties of vermicular graphite cast iron at room temperature and high temperature. In particular, under the condition of cupola in China, many factories can stably produce vermicular graphite cast iron and have achieved remarkable economic benefits. It can be expected that vermicular graphite cast iron will replace some high-grade gray cast iron, nodular cast iron and malleable cast iron by taking advantage of its good comprehensive properties, high mechanical properties, high strength at high temperature, small oxidation growth, dense structure, high thermal conductivity and low section sensitivity. Therefore, good technical and economic results will be achieved.
