Chemical composition of vermicular graphite cast iron

Vermicular graphite cast iron is a kind of gray cast iron with transition form between flake and spherical graphite. It is a new engineering structural material characterized by good mechanical and thermal conductivity and low section sensitivity. Vermicular graphite cast iron appeared in the 1960s as a new type of cast iron material. China is one of the earliest countries to study vermicular graphite cast iron. In 1966, Shandong mechanical design and Research Institute published a paper on rare earth high strength gray cast iron, marking the successful development of vermicular cast iron production technology in China.

The chemical composition of vermicular graphite cast iron is generally: C% = 3.4% ~ 3.6%; Si%=2.4%~3.0%； Mn%=0.4%~0.6%； S%<0.06%； P%<0.07%。
