Defect analysis and optimization of steel castings for shell casting

The crack and sand inclusion of motor shell steel castings are the inertia quality problems in casting production, and they are also the most difficult to solve major quality problems. The casting process is very complex, including both physical and chemical reactions, involving fluid mechanics, casting technology, material science and other multidisciplinary fields. Although the research on the process optimization scheme in this paper has greatly improved the quality of motor shell steel castings, there are still some deficiencies, which need to be further studied in the future work:

① Although the application of alkaline phenolic resin sand process in the production of motor shell steel castings has greatly improved the product quality, the low recycling rate of sand and the unsatisfactory quality of recycled sand result in high production cost, which needs further research and improvement.

② Although the optimized process scheme greatly reduces the cracks and sand inclusion of motor shell steel castings, it can not be completely solved, and further optimization research is needed.
