The gating system of iron mold sand coated casting is the channel for liquid metal to be injected into the mold cavity. Correct and reasonable gating system can ensure qualified iron mold sand coated castings, improve productivity, save metal and reduce production cost. At present, when designing the gating system of iron mold sand coated casting in China, we mainly refer to various casting manuals. A good gating system should:
(1) Ensure the rapid and stable filling of molten metal;
(2) It is conducive to the concentration and elimination of slag and gas in molten metal;
(3) The temperature field distribution in the mold cavity is adjusted to make the iron mold sand coated castings cool and solidify according to certain solidification rules, which is conducive to the densification of iron mold sand coated castings.
