Compared with foreign countries, the research on numerical modeling of casting solidification in China started late, but made rapid progress. In the late 1970s, Shenyang Foundry Research Institute, Dalian University of technology and Tsinghua University successively carried out the research on Foundry digitization. In terms of mathematical and physical factors, in terms of calculation methods and single value condition processing, in terms of quality prediction criteria, data preprocessing and thermal parameter testing, research has been started. Some have been connected with practical application and played a certain role, and are forming China’s own characteristics.
During the “sixth five year plan” and “Seventh Five Year Plan”, a joint research group composed of Shenyang Foundry Research Institute and Harbin University of science and technology undertook the topics of “solidification control of large castings” and “CAD of casting process of large steel castings”. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of casting CAE numerical simulation technology and the continuous development and improvement of commercial software, MAGMAsoft software in Germany is the most representative. Casting simulation analysis software is widely used in the casting industry in Europe and America and other countries, and has achieved good economic benefits. Some representative simulation software has been introduced by large enterprises and scientific research units in China, such as MAGMAsoft, ProCAST, AnyCasting, etc. In recent years, China’s relevant casting simulation software has developed rapidly. The more representative ones, such as Huazhu CAE, have a smaller and smaller gap between their functional perfection and MAGMAsoft, which developed earlier.
It has become a trend to use casting simulation analysis software to assist process design, reduce the proportion of defects and improve the yield. More and more scientific research institutions in China are using casting simulation analysis software for casting research. Ji Xiaoxia from the Institute of energy equipment and materials science of China First Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. used the casting simulation software ProCAST to study the effects of riser diameter, riser height and plate thickness on the effective feeding distance of plate steel castings.
Shi Yanguo from the Key Laboratory of advanced forging technology and science education of Yanshan University and Li Min from Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. used ProCAST software to simulate the solidification process of the front beam of the smart press, w tested the rationality of the riser design, and optimized the designed riser at the same time. Wang Zhiping and others from the national key experiment of new nonferrous metals materials in Gansu Province, took Microsoft VC + + 6.0 as the development platform, selected Pro / Toolkit as the development tool, programmed according to MFC and used Dao technology to call MFC dialog box, and completed the implementation of the interface in the way of dynamic link library (DIL), The riser system module of steel casting CAD based on Pro / E is developed, and the feasibility of the system is verified by a design example.
