Foundry sodium silicate sand mixed sand

Sodium silicate sand can be mixed by various sand mixers. The mixed sand shall be placed in a covered container or tightly covered with a wet sack to avoid hardening caused by evaporation of water in the sand and contact with CO2 in the air.

a. Feeding sequence

Add dry materials first, mix evenly, and then add wet materials. The general feeding sequence is: raw sand → powdery additives → water glass → organic liquid additives → mixture

b. Mixing time

The mixing time of sodium silicate sand should not be too long, otherwise it will have a great impact on its wet compressive strength and hardened (tensile) strength. Generally, the dry mixing time is 2min ~ 3min, and the wet mixing time after adding water is 2min ~ 4min. When the modulus is low, the sand mixing time can be slightly longer. When the modulus is high, the sand mixing time shall be shortened as far as possible to avoid hardening of sodium silicate sand.
