Insufficient pouring defects of investment casting steel

In recent years, with the application of advanced technologies such as high-performance (steel, non-ferrous alloy, etc.) materials, CAE analysis and technology, the lightweight of auto parts has been realized. With the deepening of automobile lightweight, the average wall thickness of investment cast steel for automobile is becoming smaller and smaller, the structure is becoming more and more complex, and the processability of investment cast steel becomes worse. The difficulty of process control in the production process also increases, and the risk of insufficient pouring and cold shut defects of thin-walled investment casting is also greater.

The casting CAE numerical simulation software ProCAST is used to analyze a thin-walled investment casting with insufficient pouring defects in production, and the process scheme of investment casting is improved. The CAE analysis results are consistent with the pouring results of investment casting, and the insufficient pouring defects are eliminated.

In view of the insufficient pouring and cold shut defects of investment casting steel, the temperature field and flow field of investment casting steel are analyzed by ProCAST software, and compared with the actual pouring situation, so as to determine the reasonable pouring parameter range of investment casting steel, which plays a guiding role in eliminating the insufficient pouring defects.
