Steel casting market of military aircraft

At the military civilian integration development forum held in July 2015, relevant persons from the Bureau of science, technology and industry for National Defense said that they would expand the opening level of military industry, release a new version of scientific research and production catalogue, relax access restrictions, reasonably define and gradually narrow the scope of license management, and constantly improve the external matching rate and civilian matching rate of military product research and production. At the same time, we should vigorously develop typical military civilian integrated industries such as nuclear energy, aerospace and aviation, and adjust and optimize the structure of the shipbuilding industry. As a national strategy, military civilian integration will usher in rapid development opportunities for civilian military enterprises driven by the gradual liberalization of the military industry and the improvement of the technical level of private enterprises. Through the market research of steel castings in the military industry, the demand of steel castings in the military industry is studied and analyzed, and the entry point for steel casting factories to enter the military industry is found.

The equipment of the military industry can be divided into aircraft, ship equipment, tanks and armored vehicles, missile weapons and sky equipment. Different equipment has different requirements for steel castings.

Product nameTexture of materialSpecifications
Joint between wing and fuselageTitanium alloy, mostly Ti-6Al-4V AlloyApprox. 145 kg
Guide vane of engineTitanium alloy, Ti3Al alloy or composite material; Single crystal casting blade is recommended to improve performanceApprox. 100 kg
Fighter brakeTitanium alloy, mostly Ti-6Al-4V AlloyApprox. 500 kg

Aeroplanes fly at high speed in the air and bear high temperature and pressure. Its steel castings are required to have the characteristics of light weight. Therefore, most of the steel castings used in aviation aircraft are precision steel castings such as titanium alloy, which are characterized by high utilization rate, low processing cost, short manufacturing cycle and good performance, such as aircraft frame and engine blades, as shown in the table. Aircraft have little demand for steel castings.
