Study on sand mold casting technology of tractor split axle housing

The casting system of sand casting axle housing is simulated and analyzed by using ProCAST simulation software. The solidification sequence and shrinkage cavity position of each part of the axle housing are determined according to the change of temperature field. By adding riser for feeding, the “sequential solidification” is realized and the generation of shrinkage cavity and porosity is reduced.

With the development of computer hardware and simulation software and the maturity of various finite element software, numerical simulation is more and more used in sand casting and has entered the stage of engineering practicality. This paper mainly studies the pouring process simulation of sand casting of axle housing, learns a lot of new knowledge, and solves many practical production problems. However, limited to other objective conditions such as research level and time, there are still deficiencies in the paper, which need to be further studied and improved. It mainly includes the following aspects:

(1) In the next step, the coupling calculation of flow field, temperature field and stress field can be deeply studied to further improve the accuracy of numerical simulation and deeply study the thermodynamic change law in the process of liquid metal solidification.

(2) The selection of different thermophysical parameters has a great impact on the accuracy of simulation results. However, due to the limitations of test conditions, most of them use the software’s own database to set thermophysical parameters, which affects the accuracy of calculation results to a certain extent. If the measured thermophysical parameters of relevant tests are extracted from the actual production, it should have greater guiding significance for the numerical simulation of products.
