Numerical simulation and technology of sand casting for dredge pump body

Taking the sand mold casting of the mud pump body as the research object, according to the size and structural characteristics of the sand mold casting of the mud pump body, the initial process schemes of the gating system, feeding system and quenching system are put forward. The casting filling and solidification process of the process scheme are simulated by using the software ProCAST, and the changes of various fields (temperature field, flow field and stress field) in the casting process are analyzed, The possible defects of sand casting of mud pump body in the casting process are predicted, the casting process parameters are optimized, and the casting quality of mud pump body is improved. The specific work is as follows:

(1) Firstly, the casting process analysis of the structure of the cast mud pump body is carried out. Referring to the analysis results, several alternative gating system design schemes are put forward, and the process parameters are determined to complete the gating system design of sand casting of the mud pump body.

(2) Use the software Creo to complete the modeling design of sand casting of mud pump body, and then use the software geomesh and meshcast to complete the finite element mesh division. Finally, use the software ProCAST to simulate the filling process of the pouring scheme, and determine the pouring system scheme according to the simulation results.

(3) Referring to the theoretical knowledge of casting technology, the design of feeding system and chilling system of casting mud pump body is completed, and the software ProCAST is used to simulate and analyze the temperature field and stress field in the sand mold casting solidification process of mud pump body, predict the occurrence of casting defects, and test the rationality of the designed feeding system and chilling system scheme.

(4) According to the simulation results, the optimized process scheme is put forward. ProCAST is used to simulate and analyze the optimized process scheme again to eliminate casting defects and improve the casting quality of casting mud pump body.
