Calculation and Analysis of Steel Casting Bow Column in CATIA

In CATIA, density and material information can be assigned to the direct physical model. The steel casting of the bow column is a steel structure, with a density of 7850kg/m^3. The software reads the model volume to obtain information such as the weight and center of gravity of the bow column. This information can be applied to the transportation and loading design of subsequent steel castings.

According to the Lloyd’s Register, Volume 1, Part 2, Chapter 4, it is not allowed to manufacture or repair cast steel connecting rods. In order to obtain recognition, the recommended method should be used for testing at the manufacturing plant to prove that the castings are intact. Tests should be conducted to confirm that the castings (including areas that have been welded and repaired) have met the required mechanical properties. After obtaining a three-dimensional model of steel castings, the model can be used to simulate and test the mechanical properties of some steel castings. Based on the test results, the design quality of steel castings can be timely grasped and corrected, effectively avoiding the occurrence of some errors.
