For the tensile strength of chilled cast iron camshaft, it is recommended in technical conditions for automobile engine camshaft that the single cast test bar is poured with molten iron inoculated in furnace, and the tensile strength is more than or equal to 200 MPa.
At present, the customers’ requirements for the tensile strength of chilled cast iron camshaft are mostly higher than the recommended value in technical conditions for automobile engine camshaft. As mentioned above, the requirements of customer a’s product and customer B’s product are not less than 250 MPa and 300 MPa respectively.
Usually, the chemical composition, inoculation, matrix hardness and metallographic structure of the blank are well controlled, and the cast test bar can easily meet the technical requirements of customers. In order to ensure the stability of tensile strength, Cu, Ni and Mo alloy elements can be added. For example, in order to ensure 300 MPa tensile strength of customer B product, a foundry Added Cu element, Ni and Mo element in addition to chemical composition according to customer requirements.
