Characteristics, causes and prevention of casting white edge defects


The white cast is hard and brittle, and it is difficult to break and turn white


A. Casting pouring speed is slow, temperature is low, easy to form white mouth in thin wall or thin beam

B. The content of hydrogen, rare earth and magnesium in molten iron is high

C. CE value is low.

D. The cooling rate of casting is too fast

Plan improvement measures:

A. Increase the temperature of the white gate position (increase pouring speed or gate temperature)

B. Add water at the white mouth

C. Add overflow riser at white port.

D. Improve the heat distribution around the white mouth. Reduce cooling speed and improve white port.

E. Build and improve CE value and increase inoculation dose.
