Control of shrinkage cavity and porosity defects of steel castings

Different steel casting production processes determine different production processes, but they can be basically divided into process design, model making, molding and core making, lower core box, smelting and pouring, sand falling, gas cutting and gouging, heat treatment, grinding and cleaning, inspection and other processes.

The shrinkage cavity and porosity defects of steel castings are not only caused by the casting process, but also caused by the poor control of the production process. Therefore, in order to avoid the occurrence of shrinkage cavity and porosity defects, we should not only improve the casting process, but also focus on the control of casting production process.

Aiming at the key processes related to shrinkage defects, such as molding, core making, smelting and pouring, this paper analyzes how to avoid shrinkage defects, and points out the management documents that should be formulated in these key processes. Only when there are laws to follow can we ensure the standardized production of steel castings in accordance with standards and relevant documents, and avoid the quality problems of steel castings caused by artificial improper operation.
