Determination of Pouring Position and Selection of Parting Surface for Large Frame Steel Castings

Determining the pouring position is an important step in casting process design, which is related to the internal quality of steel castings, the dimensional accuracy of steel castings, and the difficulty of molding process. According to the structural characteristics of the guide rail steel castings, the large plane of the guide rail frame is selected as the pouring position. This is conducive to the overall positioning of the steel castings in the lower box, overcoming the problem of misplacement of the steel castings, ensuring the accuracy of the steel castings, and at the same time facilitating the sequential solidification of the liquid metal to obtain a dense structure of the steel castings. The parting surface is mainly set for taking out the pattern, so after selecting the pouring position, combined with the tooling and modeling method, it is determined that the parting surface is the same as the pouring position. The setting diagram of the parting surface is shown in figure.

This selection of parting masks has several characteristics:

Firstly, the entire steel casting is placed in the lower box, effectively avoiding the problem of poor dimensional accuracy of steel castings caused by poor tooling accuracy;

Secondly, it is beneficial to reduce the number of sand cores for steel castings;

Third, it is conducive to the inspection of the dimensions of the lower core, the box and the mold cavity;

Fourth, selecting the same pouring position and parting surface can reduce the difficulty of mold production and modeling.
