Flaw detection in casting workshop of mass production of railway steel castings

(a) C1 surface crack defect
(b) Riser root crack defect

The flaw detection in the casting workshop mainly detects the superficial cracks of steel castings after pre normalizing and air gouging welding repair. The crack detection parts of the steel castings of the hook body are the front of the hook head (“C” surface), “C1” surface with words on both sides of the “C” surface, “C2” surface without words on both sides, hook neck, hook tail and other parts (pouring and riser part), and the crack detection parts of the hook tongue are the “s” surface of the inner surface of the hook tongue and other parts (pouring and riser part). The flaw detection of the hook body and tongue in the casting workshop is shown in Table 1 and 2, and the condition after air gouging is shown in Figure 1 and 2.

It can be seen from Tables 1 and 2 that the crack defects of hook steel castings are mainly concentrated in the pouring and riser, accounting for 63% of the total cracks; The hook tongue cracks are mainly concentrated on the s-plane, accounting for 72% of the total cracks. The cracks on the hook tongue of the hook body are surface cracks with a length of less than 20mm and a depth of less than 10mm, which can be eliminated by air gouging and welding, and enter the next process.
