Gray cast iron brake drum test material

Based on the study of gray cast iron brake drum, through the study of various brake drums, it is found that there are many differences in graphite type and carbon content. Therefore, a number of base metals were prepared to study the effects of graphite type and carbon content on the thermal fatigue and wear properties of laser bionic gray cast iron. Its chemical composition is shown in Table 1 and table 2. The casting is melted by 5kg medium frequency induction furnace in the foundry Laboratory of Jilin University, and the furnace charge is pig iron, scrap steel and a certain amount of carbon. The discharging temperature of molten iron is 1450 ℃, and the casting temperature is about 1290 ~ 1300 ℃.

In Table 1, No. A and No. C base metals are cast by wet sand mold, No. B and No. e base metals are cast by resin self hardening sand mold with thin mold wall, and No. D base metal is cast by metal mold.

The materials in Table 2 are all cast by wet sand mold. By fine tuning the proportion of carbon content in the ingredients, 10 groups of test pieces with different carbon content are cast. During the casting process, the remaining molten iron of each group of test pieces is cast into white cast samples, and then the chemical composition content of gray cast iron is indirectly measured by Swiss ARL4460 direct reading spectrometer.
