Minimum wall thickness of steel castings

Thin wall structure accounts for more than 65%, the wall thickness of thin wall is 14-15mm, and the wall thickness of local thick wall is 53mm. The product diagram is shown in Figure 1. Figure 2 shows the local non-standard structure, with the hot joint diameter of 57.4mm.

The ability of liquid metal to fill the mold cavity and obtain steel castings with complete shape and clear outline is called the ability of liquid metal to fill the mold, which is referred to as the filling ability of liquid metal for short. Practice has proved that the minimum wall thickness of steel castings that can be cast by different casting methods for the same metal is different. In Tongxiang’s casting method, due to different metals, the minimum wall thickness can be obtained is also different.

The mold filling capacity of liquid metal first depends on the flow capacity of the metal itself, and is also affected by external conditions, such as mold properties, pouring conditions, casting structure and other factors. It is a comprehensive reflection of various factors. For the minimum wall thickness of sand cast steel castings, refer to the table.

Product k141 is made of carbon steel, and the maximum dry profile size is 986mm. According to the table, the minimum wall thickness of the steel casting is 14mm.

Product k141 is produced by alkaline fermenting resin sand process. According to the experience of using alkaline reinforced acid resin sand process to produce steel castings for a long time, the minimum wall thickness is generally not less than 10mm.

The minimum wall thickness of product k141 is 14mm, so it can meet the above requirements.
