Mold filling simulation experiment of iron mold sand coated casting for Flywheel Casting

(1) The performance requirements of flywheel casting are analyzed, the casting process scheme is designed, and the process parameters are determined. Various schemes are simulated in the casting simulation software MAGMAsoft.

(2) The iron mold sand coated casting mold of Flywheel Casting (upper and lower iron mold, upper and lower mold plate, sand shooting bucket, etc.) is designed. After sand coating, the internal sprue is made by manual modeling. The influence of different internal sprue layout schemes on the casting quality is analyzed, and the correctness of the numerical simulation results is verified.

(3) The mold filling and solidification characteristics of castings in the three pouring schemes are analyzed from the aspects of feeding criterion, solidification time criterion, hot spot criterion, temperature field simulation results and mold filling time. In order to eliminate shrinkage cavity and porosity defects, the layout of inner sprue should comprehensively consider its influence on temperature field and post feeding effect of gating system.

(4) The analysis of solidification temperature curve proves the accuracy of heat transfer setting in numerical simulation, and proves the feasibility of using balanced solidification technology to realize self feeding and eliminate shrinkage cavity and porosity defects.
