In 1993, experts and scholars from all over the world shared many new research achievements in casting numerical simulation at the Sixth International Conference on casting, welding and solidification process simulation. Japanese scholars shinyama Yingfu and Yasai Haoyi proposed the adaptive pressure iteration method in a paper. They used this method to solve the problem that sola algorithm is not easy to converge; The researchers of WTCM foundry center in Belgium, led by z.a.xu and f.mampaey, appropriately improved the VOF method and used it to simulate the mold filling process of nodular cast iron.
In 1998, the 8th International Conference on Simulation of casting, welding and advanced solidification process was held in Santiago. Many influential papers in the fields of filling solidification, microstructure and stress-strain simulation also appeared at the conference. In a paper, Japanese scholars proposed a direct difference method using unstructured grid, which can avoid the calculation error on the boundary caused by the use of structured grid in finite difference method. Although the calculation time of the direct difference method is 1 ~ 2 times longer than that of the traditional method when the calculation units are the same, because the number of calculation units required by the direct difference method is greatly reduced, this method can achieve that the calculation time is not different from that of the traditional method on the premise of improving the calculation accuracy. Researchers from the University of Birmingham, led by M.R. jolly, simulated the filling process of the traditionally designed gray cast iron camshaft with two software f1ow-3d and MAGMAsoft. At the same time, they also studied the filling process of the camshaft with X-ray. Finally, they believed that the defects such as pores and inclusions in the casting were mainly caused by the turbulence in the gating system.

These commercial software have the function of three-dimensional flow field analysis, which greatly improves the speed and accuracy of numerical simulation analysis. At present, the development technology of foreign three-dimensional numerical simulation software is becoming more and more perfect, and the market recognition is also gradually improved.
