The metal container for dry storage is the key equipment for the transportation and storage of spent fuel, and it is a non-standard equipment. It needs to be designed and manufactured according to different types of components. The inherent safety of the container is the fundamental guarantee to ensure the safety of the storage and transportation of radioactive materials. At present, the international spent fuel storage and transportation container is developing towards the direction of large-scale, storage and transportation integration. The integrated container of storage and transportation can avoid the secondary loading and unloading of spent fuel, which has obvious advantages.
At present, there are four types of large spent fuel storage and transportation containers in the world: ductile iron container, stainless steel lead screen container, carbon steel multi-layer wrapped container and forged steel container t1q1. In Germany, ductile iron containers are mainly used; in France, forged steel containers are mainly used; in the United States, stainless steel lead screen containers and carbon steel multi-layer wrapped containers are mainly used as transport containers and concrete containers as storage containers. Stainless steel lead screen containers and forged steel containers are mainly used as transport containers due to complicated manufacturing process, long manufacturing cycle, high manufacturing cost and high price . Nodular cast iron has several advantages in manufacturing spent fuel storage and transportation containers
① Integral casting, with high integrity, good ray shielding ability and high safety;
② Compared with steel, the manufacturing cost can be reduced by more than 1 / 3;
③ The storage and transportation efficiency is high. A 100 ton container can hold about 20 tons of spent nuclear fuel;
④ The manufacturing process only includes smelting, casting, processing and other processes, and does not need welding and lead pouring processes;
⑤ Good comprehensive performance: high yield ratio, better corrosion resistance than carbon steel.
