Iron mold sand casting is a casting technology that forms a mold by covering a certain thickness of coated sand on the inner cavity of metal mold (iron mold). The mold composed of iron mold and sand coating has good rigidity and fast cooling. The castings produced have the advantages of high dimensional accuracy, small machining allowance, good surface quality, dense internal structure and good product quality consistency.
The complete set of equipment for iron mold sand casting includes sand covering molding machine, box closing machine, track changing system, storage rail conveyor, box opening machine, casting machine, transition car, box turning machine, top hole machine and shakeout machine. The sand-covered molding machine is the key equipment for the production of iron mold sand casting. The process parameters include mold temperature, molding pressure, mold heating current, iron mold temperature and other data. However, there are still some problems in the current sand-covered molding mode, such as the difficulty in controlling the iron mold temperature, the optimization space between the sand shooting parameters and the iron mold structure, etc. It needs to manually control the sand-covered molding quality of the iron mold based on experience, which directly leads to the instability of the final casting quality.
The iron mold sand casting production line needs to be equipped with many iron mold conveying equipment to complete its casting process logistics operation. The conveying equipment adopts rail transportation, which is generally selected according to the process layout and user’s actual conditions. Unfortunately, the casting logistics of most manufacturers are not used, but human intervention.
Therefore, the amount of production process parameter data collected by the complete set of equipment of the existing iron mold sand casting production line is small, and has not been processed basically, and has no automatic or intelligent adjustment function, which does not play a good guiding role in the operation of the production line, making the quality control of the castings produced unstable. The visualization and digitalization level of the production equipment of iron mold sand casting is low, the production operation status is not controlled systematically, and the fault finding is difficult during the equipment operation, thus affecting the production efficiency.
