Carbon emission optimization of sand casting process based on process parameters

The molding, core making process and gating system design of sand casting are not discussed, although the design of process parameters will affect the molding, core making process and gating system design of sand casting, which is not considered in this paper. Moreover, in the actual design process, there are still many factors that need to be considered to determine the design parameters. This paper has not made an in-depth discussion on how to quantitatively analyze the carbon source and carbon emission of sand casting process in this part. In addition, for the quality assurance of sand castings, this paper only analyzes it with simulation software. Small loose shrinkage defects are allowed to a certain extent, which is judged as qualified. Whether they are qualified in actual production is not considered in this paper. Based on this, the energy conservation and emission reduction of sand casting can be studied from multiple angles and in-depth:

  1. Research on carbon emission of gating system, including research on the relationship between the design of sprue, runner, ingate and riser and carbon emission.
  2. Research on the influence of the design of sand casting process parameters on Modeling and core making scheme.
  3. For the research on the defects of sand castings, this paper calculates the carbon emission with process parameters in the process design stage under certain production conditions. This can also study the relationship between the defects of castings and process parameters, and predict the possible defects of castings in the process design stage.
