Centrifugal casting is a special casting method

Casting is an important basic process and technology in mechanical industry, which is widely used in various fields of mechanical manufacturing, aerospace, energy, transportation, chemical industry and social life. The traditional casting method is sand casting, but the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of castings obtained by sand casting are not high. In addition, sand casting is not easy to make thin and complex castings, and the low production efficiency and poor working conditions limit the wide application of sand casting.

Centrifugal casting is a kind of special casting. It is a casting method of pouring high-temperature molten metal into a high-speed rotating mold, filling the mold under the action of centrifugal force, and then cooling and solidification to obtain castings. It is suitable for the production of axisymmetric parts, such as various tubular parts, cylinder liners, etc. (as shown in the figure). According to statistics, the annual output of castings in China is about 15 million tons, of which about 2.2 million tons are produced by centrifugal casting, accounting for 15%. Among them, 1.25 million tons of ductile iron pipes, 350000 tons of internal combustion engine cylinder liners and 50000 tons of various rolls.
