Determination of pouring position of sand casting

The pouring position of casting refers to the position of casting in the mold during pouring. The determination of pouring position is an important part of casting process design, which is related to whether the quality of the casting can be guaranteed, as well as the dimensional accuracy of the casting and the molding process.

1.The important machining surface of the casting shall be downward or in the form of side elevation

This is because pores, non-metallic inclusions and so on are easy to appear on the upper surface. The bottom and side faces of the casting downward are usually bright and clean, the possibility of defects is small, and the bottom structure is dense.

2.Make the large plane of the casting face down as much as possible to avoid sand inclusion and inclusion defects

For large flat castings, inclined pouring can be used if necessary to increase the rising speed of liquid metal and prevent sand inclusion.

3.The casting shall be fully filled

The thin part of the casting should face down.

4.It should be beneficial to realize sequential solidification

For castings with uneven thickness, easy to form shrinkage cavity, porosity or high quality requirements, the selection of pouring position should be conducive to the realization of sequential solidification.

5.The use of suspended sand, cores or cantilevered cores should be avoided as far as possible

6.The position of closing box, pouring position and cooling position of casting shall be consistent

For manual production, it has nothing to do with machine modeling and assembly line modeling.
