Effect of rare earth on common inoculant of gray cast iron

As a high-efficiency inoculant, rare earth has always occupied an important position in the application of inoculant, mainly because it has anti recession, high efficiency and strong desulfurization and deoxidation ability. Because China is rich in rare earth resources, the use of rare earth in inoculant has been extremely common in China.

As an inoculant, rare earth is different from other inoculants mainly because it has dual inoculation effect when inoculating gray cast iron. Therefore, when using rare earth as inoculant, it is necessary to control the amount of rare earth, so as to obtain better inoculation effect. When rare earth is used as inoculant, it can be reused, but the recovery rate is different because of the operation. It is pointed out that the best inoculation temperature of rare earth inoculant is 1480-1510 ° C. At the same time, the sulfur content of molten iron and inoculation method also determine the recovery rate of rare earth. In the case of flushing and leveling the molten iron of cupola, the recovery rate of rare earth is about 30-40%, and that of inoculating circuit molten iron is about 40-60%. The recovery rate during in-mold inoculation will be higher. If desulfurization is carried out before inoculation, the recovery rate of rare earth will also increase.
