Product structure adjustment direction of China’s foundry industry

In the face of international competition and the new situation of revitalizing China’s manufacturing industry, although the foundry industry has a good foundation and has certain strength, from a macro point of view, it still needs to be adjusted in terms of product structure, quality standards, production management, technology development and the introduction and utilization of foreign capital, so as to comprehensively improve the competitiveness of China’s foundry industry, To ensure the healthy development and undertake the important task of revitalizing the manufacturing industry under the new situation of international economic integration.

From the previous analysis, it can be seen that the grade of castings in China is low. In the future, under the condition of cooperating with various industrial departments to improve products, we should actively develop high-performance castings, pay attention to increasing the proportion of high specific strength alloy castings such as nodular cast iron, aluminum, magnesium, zinc, nodular iron and alloy cast steel and precision and high-quality castings such as die casting, low pressure, metal mold and centrifugation, and cultivate a number of famous brand enterprises producing high-quality castings, Improve the processing capacity of casting blank and increase the added value of casting.

Due to the continuous innovation in technology, the composition of casting products has changed significantly in all industrial countries in the world, and gradually changed to products with high added value. Therefore, China’s foundry industry should consider the following points in terms of product structure adjustment:

① Gradually increase the proportion of ductile iron castings. The output of nodular graphite castings accounts for more than 30% of the total output of castings in industrial developed countries, while that of China accounted for only 23.7% in 2003;

② Appropriately increase the output of aluminum alloy castings. Due to the requirements of automobile lightweight, the demand for aluminum alloy castings will increase year by year. Taking the United States as an example, the output of aluminum alloy castings accounted for about 3% of the total output of castings in 1965, 7.8% in 1982 and 16.2% in 2003, while that of China accounted for only 5.9% in 2003;

③ The development of magnesium alloy castings has great potential. Due to the minimum density, high specific strength, good cutting performance, good dimensional stability and shock absorption function, the application of magnesium alloy has attracted more and more attention in recent years. The output of magnesium alloy castings in the United States was only 12000 t in 1990, increased to 55000 t in 1999 and 74000 t in 2003;

④ The production of various special castings and composite castings has developed rapidly.
