Research status of nodular cast iron gas turbine in China

Heavy duty gas turbine (HGT) is a large-scale energy and power equipment which integrates many high technologies such as unit design, manufacturing, maintenance and so on. It plays an important role in national energy security, environmental protection and energy strategy. Heavy duty gas turbine is a typical high-tech intensive product. As an advanced and complex complete set of power machinery equipment, it is the carrier of a variety of modern core high-tech. Gas turbine technology research and development represents the comprehensive level of multi theoretical disciplines and multi engineering fields, and is the leading technology in the 21st century. The national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of science and technology have incorporated the ideas and Countermeasures for the development of China’s gas turbine market into the long-term development plan, and regard the research and development of gas turbine as one of the important symbols of national high-tech level and scientific and technological strength, which has a very prominent strategic position.

Due to the late start of technology R & D and less investment in R & D, China is still in the initial stage of R & D and manufacturing of heavy gas turbine core technology, and the progress is relatively slow, and there is still a big gap compared with the international advanced level. There are still many deficiencies in the related professional and technical personnel, core scientific research technology reserves and so on. In order to meet the international standards, the development of China’s heavy-duty gas turbine must combine the basic research of parts manufacturing technology with industrial construction, build a gas turbine industrial system in line with China’s national conditions, improve China’s independent research and development ability, and improve international competitiveness.

By analyzing the outstanding achievements made by other countries in the field of gas turbine research and development, it is not difficult to find that if we want to further master the core technology, we must first make continuous breakthroughs and success in basic research. Therefore, in the process of gas turbine development, China should constantly learn from international advanced experience and take the road of independent research and development, so as to comprehensively promote the localization of gas turbine core technology. In 2002, several major domestic power generation equipment companies began to introduce foreign core technology by “market for technology”, and then realized self-production through a large number of independent research and development work. It was not until 2005 that the first heavy duty gas turbine with a high domestic rate was produced independently, and its domestic production rate was only 57.4%. For the research and development of the key technologies, although breakthrough progress has been made in recent years, it has not reached the technical level and production strength of mass production, such as the production of single crystal directional solidification hollow blade and burner.
