Characteristics of Vacuum Mold Casting

Summary: vacuum mold casting and can be called as V-process. It’s named after the initial letter among “Vacuum”. Its great advantage as well as obvious difference from traditional sand casting methods lies in without any binding agent. vacuum mold casting actually adopts a plastic film sealed sand box, depends on one installed vacuum pumping system to exhaust inner air. As there has pressure difference between the insides and the outsides of castings, it makes dry sand compacted and then forms into requested mould cavity. By core setting, box closure, casting while evacuation processes, castings are frozen. Once removing negative pressure, castings are achieved along with the collapse of casting sand.

Compared with the above processes (namely, vacuum mold casting) with traditional sand casting process, there has the following advantages:

Because of adopting vacuum-assist pouring method, it has the advantages of fewer blow holes, higher compactness, smoother surface, clearer outline and accurate sizes;

Dry sand can be recycled by using vacuum mold casting. Added without baking process, then it can decrease coal consumption greatly. Though the power consumption during these processes increases a little bit, powdery dust incurred will reduce much more, meanwhile, it can save manpower capital so as to make it more effectively.
